Welcome to the Confirmation Program at Our Lady Queen of Heaven!
What is Confirmation?
Confirmation perfects Baptismal grace; it is the sacrament which gives the Holy Spirit in order to root us more deeply in the divine filiation, incorporate us more firmly into Christ, strengthen our bond with the Church, associate us more closely with her mission, and help us bear witness to the Christian faith in words accompanied by deeds. Confirmation, like Baptism, imprints a spiritual mark or indelible character on the Christian's soul; for this reason one can receive this sacrament only once in one's life. A candidate for Confirmation who has attained the age of reason must profess the faith, be in the state of grace, have the intention of receiving the sacrament, and be prepared to assume the role of disciple and witness to Christ, both within the ecclesial community and in temporal affairs (Catechism 1316–1317, 1319).

Confirmation preparation
- Preparation begins in the ninth grade with the a two-year program. Confirmation candidates will have hands on classroom experience. Building off of the previous years of Formation, candidates will be able to understand how to put what they learn into action. Focusing on the action of the Holy Spirit, students will be challenged to recognize God's presence in their lives-especially when it comes to making sound moral decisions and seeking social justice.
- Please contact the Religious Education for the date and time of the Confirmation Orientation.
- Confirmation candidates will participate in a retreat, church life, and prayer services. The sessions are conducted in a large group setting with further reflection and discussion in small groups.

Ministry Hours for Confirmation
Service is an important part of a disciple’s journey. It challenges us to go outside of our comfort zone and love others who might be different from us. We serve because Jesus wanted us to love one another in the way that He loved us. He did that by putting others first. He did that by giving His time to people who were ignored or forgotten.
We ask that each candidate to partake in a Ministry at the parish for the entire year. Candidates must try a ministry three times before determining whether or not this is the right fit for them. At the end of those three trials we ask candidates to ask themselves, “Do I want to keep on going or try something else?” If a candidate does not feel connected, we challenge them to look in a different area.
