Viewing of the Documentary - The woman

In the Gospels we hear Jesus refer to his mother Mary as "Woman". This reference should draw our attention to the woman mentioned in Genesis, as well as in the book of Revelation. But who is this "Woman", and why is she so central in the history of Salvation?
This powerful film presents the beautiful Catholic teaching about Mary, the mother of Jesus, and her important role in the Church and in the lives of Christians today. Combining many gorgeous images from classic sacred art with a lovely soundtrack, the dogmas of the Mother of God: Immaculate Conception, Perpetual Virginity, and Assumption are explained, along with other traditional beliefs and devotions to Mary.

Parousia: The Bible and the Mass is the fifth study in the Journey Through Scripture series. In ten
beautifully produced lessons, you will learn that liturgy is not a matter of a few select verses taken
in isolation. It’s a major theme that runs through the entire Bible, from Genesis to the Book of
Revelation. During this study, we’ll make stops along the way—in the Law, the Prophets, the Histories, and the Writings. We’ll see how the New Testament is concealed in the Old—and how the Old is revealed in the New.
We’ll discover that all of God’s action, in creation and redemption, is ordered to communion with
us in the Eucharist. The Mass is the explicit sign of his New Covenant with humankind.

Elements of the Catholic Mass is designed to help the faithful better appreciate the beauty of the Mass. Featuring Fr. Douglas Martis, former director of the Liturgical Institute, the program consists of beautifully produced short videos.
Fr. Guanella, Fr. Weller and Deacon Tom will join some of the sessions to answer questions we have on the Mass.
